HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION

Marist International University College began in 1986 as Marist International Centre, then affiliated to the Pontifical Urban University (PUU) Rome, offering an ecclesiastical degree, Bachelor of Religious Studies with Education. In May 2002 Marist International Centre (MIC) was officially recognized as a Constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) which was granted a charter by the Commission for Higher Education (CHE) in 1992. This relationship is governed by the terms of Convention for the Constituent Colleges of The Catholic University of Eastern Africa, 1997. Marist International Centre was thereafter renamed Marist International College in 2006. In September, 2011, Marist International College was officially upgraded and gazetted by the Kenya Government as Marist International University College.

The Conference of Major Superiors of the Marist Brothers of the African region own MIUC. The Marist Congregation dedicates itself to the formal, non-formal and informal education of children and young people in the primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions. MIUC is committed to Marist Educational values of Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love for Work and In the Way of Mary.

Over the years, the College has revised and expanded its programmes and now offers Masters in Psycho-spiritual Therapy and Counselling, Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Development Studies , Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Arts, Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Diploma in Education , Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Business Management and Development Studies and Social Work, as well as University Access certificate programmes. This has seen the growth of the College both in student enrolment, expansion of facilities and recruitment of personnel. All programmes are offered within a holistic approach of the intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional development of the completing graduates within a serene and conducive environment.

Currently, the College has three major departments; Education, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. The Principal is the Chief Executive Officer, supervised by the Board of Governors. The Principal is deputized by the Deputy Principal, Academic and the Deputy Principal, Administration, respectively. The Heads of department work under the DP, Academic.
