JOB ADVERTISEMENT FOR GROUNDS OFFICER

Marist International University College (MIUC) is a Constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). The College, located in Karen, Nairobi, is a Roman
Catholic Institution of Higher Learning founded in 1986 by the Marist Brothers of the Schools.
The College invites applications from suitably qualified, hardworking, and self-motivated
individuals for the position of:
GROUNDS OFFICER
Location: Nairobi
JOB SUMMARY
The Grounds Officer will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and general
upkeep of the University compound to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all
stakeholders. The Officer will undertake routine grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening,
and waste management within outdoor areas while supporting the University’s commitment to
providing a conducive learning and working environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of the University compound.
• Mow lawns, trim hedges, prune shrubs and trees, and maintain gardens and flower beds.
• Undertake routine landscaping and beautification activities.
• Sweep and keep pathways, parking areas, walkways, and other outdoor areas clean and
free of litter.
• Collect and properly dispose of waste from outdoor areas in accordance with University
procedures.
• Assist in planting and caring for trees, flowers, and other ornamental plants.
• Ensure grounds maintenance tools and equipment are cleaned and properly stored after
use.
• Observe Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements while carrying out assigned
duties.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming campus
environment.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.
• A Certificate in Landscaping, Environmental Management, or a related field will be an
added advantage.

• At least two (2) years’ practical experience in grounds maintenance, gardening,
landscaping, compound management, or a similar role.
• Basic knowledge of plant care, landscaping, and safe work practices.
• Ability to use grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors.
