Marist International University College (MIUC) is a Constituent College of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). The College, located in Karen, Nairobi, is a Roman Catholic Institution of Higher Learning founded in 1986 by the Marist Brothers of the Schools.

MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER

 Location: Nairobi

Reporting to: The Principal

JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Public Relations Officer will be responsible for growing student enrollment and delivering measurable enrollment growth within a short, clearly defined timeframe. The position requires a strategic executor, coupled with strong operational execution.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to diagnose weak market performance, design rapid-response growth strategies, and lead teams to deliver results under pressure.

 CORE MANDATE

Within the first 6–12 months, the Officer will be expected to:

  • Stabilize and grow student enrollment.
  • Deliver measurable growth in inquiries, applications, and enrollments
  • Reposition the institution’s market presence and public confidence
  • Establish disciplined, performance-driven marketing and recruitment systems

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Turnaround & Enrollment Growth

  • Conduct a rapid diagnostic assessment of current enrollment performance and market positioning
  • Design and execute short-cycle, high-impact recruitment strategies with clear weekly and monthly targets
  • Convert enrollment figures into time-bound recovery and growth plans
  • Establish and manage recruitment funnels with strict conversion metrics
  • Lead fast, decisive marketing interventions aimed at immediate enrollment gains

Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead, supervise, and hold accountable the marketing, communications, and student recruitment team
  • Set clear individual and team performance targets linked to enrollment outcomes
  • Enforce discipline, urgency, and results-based performance culture
  • Mobilize internal staff as institutional brand and recruitment ambassadors
  • Draw annual Marketing budget

Public Relations & Market Repositioning

  • Restore and strengthen institutional credibility, visibility, and market confidence
  • Develop and manage deliberate PR interventions that directly support enrollment growth
  • Oversee media engagement, public messaging, and brand positioning
  • Ensure consistent, compelling, and conversion-oriented communication

Partnerships & Market Penetration

  • Rapidly activate strategic partnerships with schools, churches, NGOs, TVETs, professional bodies, and alumni networks
  • Implement feeder-school, referral, and ambassador recruitment models
  • Drive aggressive outreach programs with measurable enrollment outcomes

Digital & Data-Driven Marketing

  • Lead conversion-focused digital marketing campaigns (social media, website, WhatsApp, online funnels, newsletters and Email marketing)
  • Use data, analytics, and reporting to adjust strategy in real time
  • Eliminate low-impact activities and scale what converts

Institutional Integration

  • Work closely with Admissions, Academic Departments, and Senior Management to remove enrollment bottlenecks
  • Strengthen inquiry handling, follow-up discipline, and fast decision- making
  • Provide frequent, evidence-based performance reports to management

 KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, Business, or related field
  • Demonstrated success in turning around low performance or declining numbers in marketing, recruitment, sales, or growth roles
  • Proven experience leading teams under performance pressure
  • Strong command of digital marketing, growth funnels, and conversion strategies
  • Experience in education sector marketing or student recruitment is a strong advantage
  • Candidates must be able to provide verifiable evidence of results achieved

  • Campaign-to-enrollment impact metrics
